“Don’t go there. Don’t touch this. Don’t do that.” The Pharisees were first century followers of the religious rules and called others to do the same. Actually, they didn’t just follow the rules; they invented them. Their whole lives revolved around religion, performance, commandments, and obedience. You would think that Jesus and the Pharisees would be best of friends. They weren’t.

In fact, they looked more like enemies than friends. As you read through the Bible, you can’t help but notice that Jesus and these religious leaders were always at each other’s throats. Jesus saw them for who they were – men who knew the law but failed to love God. He was wise to their charade and exposed it whenever he could. His tone is fierce. Jesus cuts into these moral, religious men longing for them to abandon their religion and come to him in repentance and faith.

He asks the same from us. Christianity is not about being religious. Christianity is about being repentant – to be a people that hate religion but love Jesus.

One question that seems to have ravished the minds of so many in the world today is the question of meaning. Meaning that is not empty and shallow. Rather, one that seeks to answer moments of deepest doubt and obscurity. We have run to the halls of academia, become lulled by the intriguing theme of vain relationships, and sought religion to bring resolve to this question that ceases to echo in our minds and hearts.

Are we meant for more than what we hear, see, and think we know? Is there more to life than what we are living? If you have not yet been faced with such questions or are in the midst of them, we’ll seek to unravel some of the threads of this great and beautiful tapestry of the essence of life.

Religious. Indifferent. Skeptical. Curious. We invite you to come. You may just find what you’re looking for.

The missions trip was an immense blessing! Thank you to everyone who prayed and gave faithfully. God moved in the land in a powerful way, as the team was able to lead a VBS and tent meeting in the village of Kandahar during the week of August 2. The team was also able to visit two elderly homes and an orphanage, where they shared the love of Christ.

We will be teaming up with Project 215 for this great event! Live music, great food and a day of sharing the gospel message with the community.  We need lots of help with grilling, serving, setup, cleanup, etc.  Please contact Carol at carol@fusion316.org for more information.

Our outreach in July takes place in South Philly where we will be hosting an open-door coffeehouse. We encourage you to help us with setting up, meeting & greeting, and sharing the Gospel with this community.

Churches from all over Philly and New York are getting together to display their best talent! If you’ve got a voice, we want you to rep’ your church! All proceeds go to our upcoming summer missions trip. In early August a few dedicated people are traveling to Trinidad and Tobago to work with a local ministry, TTUM, in sharing the gospel. We will be hosting a VBS, visiting prisons, women’s shelters, orphanages and hosting tent meetings. If you are interested in joining our team, send us a message. Even if you can’t go on the trip you can help this amazing effort by donating to the cause. Every bit counts!

In the past week we’ve launched a new site! We’re really excited by the opportunities it introduces, namely user-submitted content. We really want you to help us build out our content by providing any inspirational/thought-provoking articles or devotionals or even artwork. Also – we’re really looking forward to your comments! Even if you don’t feel led to submit an article, we’d love to hear what your response is to what we post on the site.

One last thing, we’re also expanding what you take from the meetings to the web. For all of our Fusion First Friday meetings we are now going to have notes, video and photos from the event. We want this site to be an on-going resource for you, so any ideas you might have will be greatly appreciated.

There are nearly 1,500,000 people living in the city of Philadelphia, not including its surrounding towns. Without a doubt, we can make a better effort of sharing the Good News in our city – but it can only happen from us working together.

The coffee was flowing and there was no shortage of donuts and cookies on Friday night as young people from throughout the city came to hang out and hear about ministry opportunities in the area.  Lighthouse, Urban Worship Center Project 215 , HUSH and of course Fusion shared about exciting ways to serve God.  It was amazing to hear about the exciting things that God is doing through these ministries!  We also had a chance to experience the talents of many of the young people in these ministries through songs, rap, videos, etc.  What a great time.  We’ll have to do it again soon!
